Background

 

Project Playground (PPG) is a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town. Its overall objective is to see a safe world where all children grow up with faith in their future and an opportunity to impact their own lives by providing better future prospects through a
meaningful spare time.


Project Playground seeks to appoint a Facilitator Netball assistant Coach, based in PPG Langa, Cape Town. Our successful netball program teaches our participants much more than just the sport itself. It is an opportunity to encourage team spirit both on and off
the field. We use this program to build resilience against gender based inequality.

 


Responsibilities

​

  • Plan and deliver coaching sessions and activities.

  • Pro vide feedback and give advice on players’ performance, physical and technical skills.

  • Develop and discuss tactics and strategies for both individual and team play.

  • Research good practice of innovative and successful coaching.

  • Advise players on how to keep up a positive mental attitude and discipline, inspiring confidence and self belief.

  • Work with children to use netball as a means of personal and social development.

  • Act as a role model, gaining the trust and respect of the people you work with.

  • Plan and prepare for classes according to the principles of PPG;

  • Facilitate classes;

  • Coordinate excursions;

  • Submit reports;

  • Attend parent and staff meetings;

  • Ensure children train to a high level of health and safety at all times.

Requirements

​

  • Education level: Certificate in Coaching

  • Experience in facilitation coaching

  • Experience in working for a club/organisation

  • Verbal and written communication skills;

  • Residing in Langa is an added advantage;

  • Passionate about the development of children;

  • Role model to the entire society;

  • Ability to mentor children and facilitate their learning and growth;

  • Ability to plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the participants;

  • Eager to develop with the organisation.
